Absolutely charming tv series that channel 5 deserve high praise for. Excellent cast with Samuel West and Callum Woodhouse (reprising a character not dissimilar to his brilliant Lesley from The Durrells) delightfully capturing the spirit of the Farnon brothers, whilst Nicholas Ralph has been perfectly cast as the young Glaswegian Herriot. As a youngster i loved the BBC series so much that quite early on it prompted me to read all of James Herriot's memoirs to then only realise that a lot of the BBC casting was actually fairly inaccurate. This version is so much more true to his stories and his characters and I'm loving it for that. Also thoroughly enjoying the beautiful northern scenery. In conclusion it's a real Sunday night heart warmer for the autumn and I very much hope further seasons of the show will follow.
