gangs of london, season 1

Game of Thrones with guns. Lots of guns.

This show strongly reminded me of "Game of Thrones" (the good parts of it, before it went downhill). But instead of taking place on a fictional continent in a time period that looked like our Middle Ages, the story in this show takes place in modern London of 2020.
And instead of dragons and catapults people here use machineguns (lots of machineguns), shotguns and C4. But some of the basic premises are the same: There are different powerful families that all want to be on top (or stay on the top) of the food chain and their mutual rivalries drive them to suspicion, betrayal and ultimately to violence.
And there's a lot of that. Who this show is for: If you liked e.g. "John Wick", "The Raid", "RocknRolla", "Game of Thrones" and don't mind the sometimes excessive violence then you might like this show too. But be aware that there really is a lot of violence. Fight scenes are brutal, bloody, visceral... comparable to "John Wick" or "The Raid".
And you get that in pretty much every episode. There are also other story elements such as what it means to be loyal to your family, what would you sacrifice for your family, where do you draw the line ... that's where the similarities with "Game of Thrones" come in.
Hence why I said that this is "Game of Thrones" with guns. If you expect something like "Sopranos but taking place in London" ... no that's not it. You might get disappointed.
